The Grand Peru Classic 15 Days: Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Peru tour package or a custom trip?

Both. It is a ready-made Peru vacation package with every hotel, transfer, guide, train and excursion already planned, but it runs as a custom trip: you choose the date, the hotel category and the number of travelers, and we can adjust any day. Departures are daily, all year.

What is a Peru classic tour?

It is the route most travelers dream of: the Ballestas Islands and the Nazca Lines on the coast, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca and the Route of the Sun, and Cusco with Machu Picchu. The Grand Peru Classic adds the Amazon River at the end.

How do you get from Cusco to the Amazon River?

Iquitos cannot be reached by road, so you fly from Cusco to Iquitos with a connection in Lima, then travel by boat on the Amazon to your jungle lodge.

What is included in the Grand Peru Classic package?

14 nights with breakfast (full board at the jungle lodge), the Ballestas boat trip, the Nazca Lines flight, the Colca tour, the Lake Titicaca islands, the Route of the Sun bus, the panoramic train, Machu Picchu with guide, an Iquitos visit and the 3-day Amazon River program.

What wildlife can I see on the Amazon River?

Pink and grey river dolphins, monkeys, sloths, caimans, macaws, toucans and many other birds, as well as the giant Victoria water lilies. Sightings depend on the season and river levels.

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

The route climbs gradually from the coast through Arequipa (approx. 2,335 m) and the Colca Valley to Puno (approx. 3,830 m) and Cusco (approx. 3,400 m); the Amazon at the end is almost at sea level, a relaxing finale after the Andes. Drink plenty of water and consult your doctor before travel if you have a medical condition.

Can I customize the Grand Peru Classic?

Yes. Departures are daily, all year, and every day of this 10-day itinerary can be adapted: add nights, upgrade hotels, switch to a luxury train to Machu Picchu or add Huayna Picchu. Just tell us in the request form.

How much does the Grand Peru Classic cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation. Domestic flights are quoted separately so you can choose airline and schedule.
