Peru at a Glance 5 Days: Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Peru tour package or a custom trip?

Both. It is a ready-made Peru vacation package with every hotel, transfer, guide, train and excursion already planned, but it runs as a custom trip: you choose the date, the hotel category and the number of travelers, and we can adjust any day. Departures are daily, all year.

Can I visit Machu Picchu in 5 days from Lima?

Yes. Five days is enough to fly to Cusco, explore the Sacred Valley, take the panoramic train and tour Machu Picchu, then fly back to Lima for your international connection.

What is included in the Peru at a Glance package?

4 nights with breakfast, all airport transfers, the Sacred Valley tour, the panoramic train and Machu Picchu with guide and shuttle bus.

Why spend a night in Aguas Calientes?

Sleeping at the foot of Machu Picchu lets you take an early bus up the mountain, when the citadel is quieter and the morning light is at its best.

Can I add a Lima city tour?

Yes. You can add a Lima city tour or a food tour on your arrival day or extend the trip by a day; for a longer version see our Peru Express Journey (7 days) or The Peru Escape (8 days).

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

You fly from Lima to Cusco (approx. 3,400 m) and keep the rest of that day free to rest. The Sacred Valley (approx. 2,900 m) and Machu Picchu (approx. 2,430 m) are lower than Cusco, which makes acclimatization easier. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on arrival and consult your doctor before travel if you have a medical condition.

Can I customize Peru at a Glance?

Yes. Departures are daily, all year, and every day of this 10-day itinerary can be adapted: add nights, upgrade hotels, switch to a luxury train to Machu Picchu or add Huayna Picchu. Just tell us in the request form.

How much does Peru at a Glance cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation. Domestic flights are quoted separately so you can choose airline and schedule.
