Incas & Galápagos is a Peru Galápagos trip itinerary for travelers who want both of South America’s headline experiences without rushing either. Nine days in Peru take you from Lima to Cusco and its Inca temples, through the markets and terraces of the Sacred Valley — Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Maras and Moray — and on the scenic train to Machu Picchu. Then a flight to Guayaquil opens eight days in Ecuador, six of them in the Galápagos: giant tortoises and the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz, the beaches and volcanoes of Isabela and snorkeling at Los Túneles.
Incas and Galápagos, day by day: nine days in Peru and eight in Ecuador. Tap any day to see the details.
Every day of your trip, with where you'll spend the night.
Day 1
Welcome to South America! Our team greets you at Lima’s airport and drives you to your hotel. The evening is free — the ocean promenade of Miraflores is just steps away.
Day 2
Discover Lima in one day: the Plaza Mayor and its colonial cathedral, the Government Palace, the Franciscan monastery and its catacombs, then the modern seafront of Miraflores and the colorful bohemian streets of Barranco.
Day 3
Fly over the Andes to Cusco, where a guide meets you and takes you to your hotel. The afternoon is free to rest and adjust to the altitude of the ancient Inca capital.
Day 4
A guided city tour of Inca Cusco: the Koricancha Temple of the Sun, then four ceremonial sites in the hills — Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay — with views over the red-tiled roofs.
Day 5
Travel into the Sacred Valley for Pisac’s handicraft market, where Quechua families sell textiles and ceramics, and the terraces of Ollantaytambo fortress, one of the last strongholds of Inca resistance. Overnight in the valley.
Day 6
A day for two of the valley’s most unusual sites: the concentric terraces of Moray, believed to be an Inca crop laboratory, and the salt pans of Maras, thousands of white pools fed by a single salty spring.
Day 7
From Ollantaytambo station, the scenic train follows the Urubamba River down to Aguas Calientes, where the Andes meet the cloud forest. Free afternoon in the village.
Day 8
Guided tour of Machu Picchu in the early morning, discovering the temples, plazas and terraces of the Inca citadel, followed by the train and road journey back to Cusco.
Day 9
Fly back to Lima and spend a relaxed afternoon by the Pacific — perhaps the Larco Museum’s pre-Columbian treasures or a sunset dinner in Miraflores.
Day 10
Fly to Guayaquil, Ecuador. After the transfer to your hotel, explore the riverside Malecón 2000 and climb the steps of Las Peñas, the city’s oldest neighborhood, for views over the Guayas River.
Day 11
A two-hour flight lands you on Baltra in the Galápagos. Pay the park fee, cross the Itabaca Channel by ferry and drive across Santa Cruz’s green highlands, where you may spot giant tortoises by the road, to Puerto Ayora.
Day 12
Learn how the Galápagos are protected at the Charles Darwin Research Station, home to young giant tortoises and land iguanas, then visit a highland reserve to see adult tortoises in the wild and walk through lava tubes.
Day 13
A speedboat crosses to Isabela, the largest and youngest island of the archipelago. Afternoon at leisure in Puerto Villamil: the flamingo lagoon, the tortoise breeding center or the long sandy beach.
Day 14
Boat excursion to Los Túneles at Cabo Rosa, where collapsed lava arches create natural tunnels over crystal-clear water. Snorkel among white-tipped reef sharks, sea turtles, rays and sea horses.
Day 15
Return by speedboat to Santa Cruz in the morning. Free afternoon for Tortuga Bay, where marine iguanas sunbathe on the volcanic rocks, or for shopping and dinner in Puerto Ayora.
Day 16
Transfer to Baltra airport and fly back to Guayaquil for your final night in Ecuador.
Day 17
Breakfast and free time according to your flight schedule, then transfer to José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport for your flight home. End of services.

It is a complete South America tour package — hotels, transfers, guides, trains, flights coordination and excursions are all planned — but it runs as a tailor-made trip: you choose the date, the hotel category and the group size, and any day can be adjusted. Departures are daily, all year.
Nine days in Peru (Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu) and eight in Ecuador, including six in the Galápagos split between Santa Cruz and Isabela.
Santa Cruz — with the Charles Darwin Research Station, the highland tortoise reserve and Tortuga Bay — and Isabela, with Puerto Villamil, the flamingo lagoon and the Los Túneles snorkeling trip.
Basic swimming is enough. Equipment and a naturalist guide are included at Los Túneles, and you can stay close to the boat; the guide explains everything before you enter the water.
On top of the package, Ecuador charges every visitor two Galápagos fees: the Transit Control Card (TCT), purchased at Quito or Guayaquil airport before check-in, and the National Park entrance fee, paid in cash when you land. At present they are US$20 and US$200 per foreign adult, but the authorities can change them at any time — check before you fly.
There is no bad time for the Galápagos: December–May is warm, with calm seas and the best snorkeling visibility; June–November is cooler and breezier, with more marine life and very active seabirds. For Cusco and Machu Picchu, the dry months from April to November are ideal.
We strongly recommend travel insurance with medical and evacuation cover, especially for high-altitude areas such as Uyuni and for the Galápagos, plus trip-cancellation cover for international and domestic flights.
The per-person price depends on your hotel category, from Essential 2★ to Deluxe 5★, and on group size — see the Rates tab. Flights, the Galápagos National Park fee and the Transit Control Card are quoted or paid separately.
