Coast, Rainforest and Machu Picchu in 10 Days

A Taste of Peru gives you a little of everything in ten days: the coast, the Amazon and the Andes. After a city tour of Lima, travel south to the Ballestas Islands and the dunes of Huacachina, fly over the Nazca Lines and return to the capital. Then fly into the Amazon for three days at a Tambopata jungle lodge — canoeing on Lake Sandoval, Monkey Island and macaws at dawn — and on to Cusco for the panoramic train to Machu Picchu. One of the most varied 10-day Peru vacation packages you can take.

A Taste of Peru 10 Days: Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a Peru tour package or a custom trip?

Both. It is a ready-made Peru vacation package with every hotel, transfer, guide, train and excursion already planned, but it runs as a custom trip: you choose the date, the hotel category and the number of travelers, and we can adjust any day. Departures are daily, all year.

Can I see the Nazca Lines, the Amazon and Machu Picchu in 10 days?

Yes. This itinerary spends two days on the coast (Ballestas, Huacachina and the Nazca Lines), three days in the Tambopata rainforest and three in Cusco and Machu Picchu, linked by flights from Lima to Puerto Maldonado and on to Cusco.

What is included in the Taste of Peru package?

9 nights with breakfast (all meals at the jungle lodge), airport transfers, the Lima city tour, the Ballestas and Huacachina day trip, the Nazca Lines flight and bus to Lima, the 3-day Tambopata program, the panoramic train and Machu Picchu with guide.

Why fly from the Amazon to Cusco?

Puerto Maldonado has direct flights to Cusco, so you go from the rainforest to the Andes in under an hour, without returning to Lima.

Do I need vaccines for Tambopata?

The yellow fever vaccine is recommended for the Peruvian Amazon. Bring insect repellent and long sleeves, and check current advice with your doctor.

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

After the lowland rainforest you fly to Cusco (approx. 3,400 m) and travel the next day to Machu Picchu (approx. 2,430 m), which is lower. Rest on arrival, drink plenty of water and consult your doctor if you have a medical condition.

Can I customize A Taste of Peru?

Yes. Departures are daily, all year, and every day of this 10-day itinerary can be adapted: add nights, upgrade hotels, switch to a luxury train to Machu Picchu or add Huayna Picchu. Just tell us in the request form.

How much does A Taste of Peru cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation. Domestic flights are quoted separately so you can choose airline and schedule.
