Peru Quick Start 5 Days: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see Machu Picchu in 5 days?

Yes. Five days is enough to fly from Lima to Cusco, explore the Sacred Valley, take the panoramic train and tour Machu Picchu with a guide, then fly back to Lima for your international connection.

What is included in the Peru Quick Start 5 Days?

4 nights of accommodation with breakfast, all airport transfers, the Sacred Valley tour, the panoramic train, the Machu Picchu entrance ticket with guide and shuttle bus, and all listed entrance fees.

Why sleep in Aguas Calientes before Machu Picchu?

Staying at the foot of the mountain lets you take one of the first buses up in the morning, when the citadel is quieter and the light is beautiful. You avoid the very early train from Cusco on the day of your visit.

Can I add a day in Lima?

Yes. Many travelers add a Lima city tour or a food tour at the start or end of the trip; just mention it in the request form. For more time in Peru, see our 7-day Peru Escape or 8-day Peru Getaway.

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

You fly to Cusco (approx. 3,400 m) and rest that afternoon, then descend to the Sacred Valley (approx. 2,900 m) and Machu Picchu (approx. 2,430 m), which are lower. Drink plenty of water and check with your doctor if you have a medical condition.

When is the best time for a short trip to Machu Picchu?

April to November is the dry season and the most reliable for clear views. Machu Picchu is open every day of the year; from December to March expect showers and very green landscapes.

Can I customize this 5-day tour?

Yes. Departures are daily, all year, and every day of this 10-day itinerary can be adapted: add nights, upgrade hotels, switch to a luxury train to Machu Picchu or add Huayna Picchu. Just tell us in the request form.

How much does the Peru Quick Start 5 Days cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation. Domestic flights are quoted separately so you can choose airline and schedule.
