Peru Grand Circuit 15 Days: Your Questions Answered

What is the Peru Grand Circuit?

It is the classic loop through southern Peru: Lima and the Pacific coast at Paracas, the Nazca desert, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca and finally Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. In 15 days it shows you the coast, the desert, the canyons and the Andes, traveling mostly overland so you see the landscapes change.

What is included in the 15-day tour?

14 nights of accommodation with breakfast, all transfers and ground transport, guided tours of Lima, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, the Ballestas Islands boat trip, the Nazca Lines flight, the 2-day Colca tour, the Lake Titicaca island tour, the Route of the Sun bus, the panoramic train and all listed entrance fees.

How long are the road journeys?

The longest drives are Nazca – Arequipa (approx. 9–10 hours, mostly in the afternoon after the flight), Colca – Puno (approx. 6 hours) and the Route of the Sun from Puno to Cusco (approx. 10 hours, broken up by guided stops and lunch). Every other transfer is under four hours.

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

Altitude is introduced gradually: Arequipa (approx. 2,335 m) and the Colca Valley (approx. 3,600 m) prepare your body before Puno (approx. 3,830 m) and Cusco (approx. 3,400 m). Drink plenty of water, avoid heavy meals on arrival, try coca tea and take the first afternoon at each new altitude slowly. Consult your doctor before travel if you have a medical condition.

When is the best time for the Peru Grand Circuit?

The tour runs all year. From April to November it is the dry season in the Andes, with clear skies over the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca and Machu Picchu. From December to March the highlands are green with afternoon showers, while the coast at Paracas and Nazca is at its sunniest.

How much does the Peru Grand Circuit 15 Days cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation.
