Machu Picchu & Nazca Lines 10 Days: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I see the Nazca Lines and Machu Picchu in 10 days?

Yes. This classic itinerary spends days 3–4 on the coast (Ballestas Islands, Huacachina and the Nazca Lines flight) and days 5–9 in Cusco, Rainbow Mountain, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, linked by a flight from Lima to Cusco.

How long is the Nazca Lines flight?

The overflight lasts approx. 30–35 minutes in a small plane and shows you around a dozen figures, including the hummingbird, the monkey, the spider and the astronaut. Flights depend on weather and are best in the morning.

Is the Nazca Lines flight safe?

The flights are operated by licensed local airlines regulated by Peru’s civil aviation authority. Small planes bank to both sides so everyone can see the figures; if you are prone to motion sickness, have a light breakfast and bring medication.

Why return to Lima after Nazca?

There is no airport with regular flights between Nazca and Cusco, so returning to Lima by bus and flying to Cusco the next morning is the fastest and most comfortable way to combine both regions.

Is Rainbow Mountain too early in the trip?

Rainbow Mountain is on your second day in Cusco and climbs above 5,000 m, so it is demanding. If you are not used to altitude, we can move it after Machu Picchu or replace it with a gentler excursion; horses can also be rented for part of the trail.

How does the itinerary help with altitude?

You keep your first afternoon in Cusco (approx. 3,400 m) free to rest, and the Sacred Valley (approx. 2,900 m) and Machu Picchu (approx. 2,430 m) are lower. Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on arrival and check with your doctor if you have a medical condition.

Can I customize this 10-day tour?

Yes. Departures are daily, all year, and every day of this 10-day itinerary can be adapted: add nights, upgrade hotels, switch to a luxury train to Machu Picchu or add Huayna Picchu. Just tell us in the request form.

How much does the 10-day Machu Picchu and Nazca Lines tour cost?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the number of travelers. Open the Rates tab for the current price per person, based on double or twin accommodation. Domestic flights are quoted separately so you can choose airline and schedule.
