8-Day Peru Family Trip: Moray & Machu Picchu: Questions Answered

What's included in this 8-day Peru family vacation?

It includes 7 nights in your chosen hotel category with breakfast, private transfers, a guided Lima tour, a Rainbow Mountain excursion, a VIP Sacred Valley day at Maras and Moray with gourmet lunch, panoramic trains and a private guided visit to Machu Picchu.

Is this 8-day holiday good for children?

Yes. Salt pans, giant circular terraces, alpacas and the train to Machu Picchu fascinate kids; Rainbow Mountain suits older, active children. Family and connecting rooms can be requested in most hotel categories.

Why are the Maras salt mines special?

Thousands of small salt pans cascade down the hillside, fed by a salty spring that has been used since pre-Inca times. Local families still harvest the salt by hand, and the pink salt of Maras is prized by chefs around the world.

When is the ideal time for this 8-day trip?

April to November is the dry season; the Maras salt pans look their best from May to October.

What should I know about the altitude?

Rainbow Mountain (over 5,000 m) comes the day after you arrive in Cusco (approx. 3,400 m), which is demanding for the body. We recommend adding an extra night in Cusco first, or replacing the hike with a gentle day in the Sacred Valley. Drink plenty of water, rest well and consult your doctor before you travel if you have a medical condition.

How much does the 8-day Peru family vacation cost?

Your price depends on the hotel category (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and the number of travelers. See the Rates tab for current prices per person in a double or twin room.
