Every day of your trip, with where you'll spend the night.

Lima coastline and city skyline Day 1

Welcome to Lima: Your Peruvian Adventure Begins

Your private driver welcomes you in the arrivals hall and escorts you along the coast to your hotel in Miraflores. The rest of the day is yours: stroll the clifftop malecón, watch paragliders drift over the Pacific and enjoy a first taste of the cuisine that has made Lima one of the great food capitals of the world.

Overnight in Lima
Desert cliffs and ocean in the Paracas National Reserve Day 2

Coastal Escape: Lima to Paracas Overland Journey

Leave the capital behind and travel south along the Pacific coast to the bay of Paracas (approx. 3.5 hours). In the afternoon, explore the Paracas National Reserve, where ochre desert cliffs and red-sand beaches meet the ocean, home to sea lions, flamingos and countless seabirds. Settle into your seaside hotel for a relaxed evening by the bay.

Overnight in Paracas
Humboldt penguins on the Ballestas Islands, Paracas Day 3

Set Sail to the Ballestas Islands & Retreat to the Huacachina Oasis

Board a morning boat to the Ballestas Islands, the “Peruvian Galápagos”, passing the giant Candelabra geoglyph to see sea lions, Humboldt penguins and thousands of seabirds. Then drive inland to the Huacachina Oasis, a palm-fringed lagoon surrounded by some of the tallest sand dunes in South America, where a dune buggy ride at sunset is the perfect way to end the day.

Overnight in Huacachina
Nazca Lines seen from a light aircraft Day 4

Soar Over the Nazca Lines & Journey to the White City

A morning in the sky, an afternoon on the road. Your light aircraft circles the hummingbird, the monkey and the other giant figures of the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of archaeology’s greatest unsolved puzzles. Then relax on the scenic journey through desert valleys and along coastal cliffs to Arequipa, Peru’s elegant “White City”.

Overnight in Arequipa
Arequipa Plaza de Armas with El Misti volcano Day 5

Arequipa at Your Leisure: Explore the White City

A well-earned pause between the desert and the Andes. Wander the colorful streets of the Santa Catalina Monastery, a city within the city, admire El Misti volcano from the Yanahuara viewpoint, visit the Museo Santuarios Andinos, home of the Inca ice maiden “Juanita”, or simply rest and acclimatize at approx. 2,335 m.

Overnight in Arequipa
Agricultural terraces of the Colca Valley Day 6

Journey Through the Majestic Colca Valley

Cross the high plateau through the Salinas y Aguada Blanca reserve, where wild vicuñas graze, to the Patapampa viewpoint (approx. 4,900 m), surrounded by volcanoes. Descend into the Colca Valley, where communities still farm the terraces carved by their ancestors, and end the day soaking in natural hot springs as the sun sets over the Andes.

Overnight in Colca Valley
Andean condor flying over the Colca Canyon at Cruz del Cóndor Day 7

Witness the Flight of the Condor at Colca Canyon

Wake up early, because the condors don’t wait. Follow the edge of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world, to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, where Andean condors with wingspans of up to three meters ride the morning thermals. On the way back, visit the colonial churches and villages of Maca and Yanque.

Overnight in Colca Valley
High Andean lagoon on the road from Colca to Puno Day 8

Scenic Overland Journey to Puno City

A spectacular journey of approximately 300 km across the altiplano. Admire volcanic peaks, high-altitude lagoons and herds of llamas and alpacas grazing on the puna, before arriving in Puno (approx. 3,830 m), the folkloric capital of Peru, on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

Overnight in Puno
Taquile Island men knitting traditional textiles on Lake Titicaca Day 9

Lake Titicaca: Boat Trip & Island Discovery

Set sail on Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable lake. First stop: the Uros Floating Islands, woven entirely from totora reeds by families who still live on them today. Continue to Taquile Island, whose textile art is recognized by UNESCO and where the men are master knitters, for a walk along its stone paths and a lunch of fresh lake trout with views of the Bolivian Andes.

Overnight in Puno
Temple of Wiracocha walls at Raqchi on the Route of the Sun Day 10

Route of the Sun: A Scenic Journey from Puno to Cusco

From the shores of Titicaca to the capital of the Incas. Cross La Raya Pass at over 4,300 m, where snow-capped peaks rise above herds of llamas and alpacas, then descend into green Andean valleys. Along the way, discover the monoliths of Pucará, the colossal Inca temple of Raqchi and the golden interior of Andahuaylillas, the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas”.

Overnight in Cusco
Colorful stripes of Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) Day 11

Rainbow Mountain Expedition: A Journey to Vinicunca’s Painted Peaks

An early departure takes you to the trailhead of Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain. Walk at your own pace through the high Andes as the colors of the land intensify with every step. At the viewpoint, more than 5,000 m above sea level, bands of red, gold and turquoise stretch across the mountainside. Horses are available for part of the way.

Hike to Rainbow Mountain Overnight in Cusco
Observatory car of a panoramic train to Machu Picchu Day 12

Explore the Sacred Valley & Ride the Panoramic Train to Machu Picchu

Descend into the Sacred Valley of the Incas with your private guide, following the Urubamba River past patchwork fields and Andean villages. Visit the market and terraces of Pisac and the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo, beneath its imposing temple fortress. In the late afternoon, board the panoramic train, with glass ceilings framing the mountains, to Aguas Calientes at the foot of Machu Picchu.

Panoramic train Overnight in Aguas Calientes
Guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel Day 13

Machu Picchu Revealed: Guided Discovery

2-Week Peru with Friends: Epic Andean Explorer: Your Questions Answered

What does this 2-week Peru trip with friends include?

You get 13 nights in the hotel category of your choice with breakfast, private transfers, the Ballestas Islands, a Nazca Lines overflight, a 2-day Colca tour, Lake Titicaca, the Route of the Sun, Rainbow Mountain, a Sacred Valley tour, panoramic trains and a guided visit to Machu Picchu with all entrance fees.

Can we customize the trip for our group of friends?

Yes. We can add sandboarding in Huacachina, a cooking class, a pisco tasting, nightlife in Barranco or extra adventure activities, and adjust rooms for your group. Tell us your plans in the request form.

Is 2 weeks enough time to see Peru?

Two weeks is enough to see the highlights of southern Peru without rushing. This itinerary covers the coast and the Nazca Lines, Arequipa and the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, Rainbow Mountain, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, with time to acclimatize along the way.

When is the best time to take this 2-week tour?

The dry season, from April to November, offers the clearest skies at Rainbow Mountain and Machu Picchu. The tour runs all year; December to March brings green landscapes and afternoon rain in the Andes.

How do I avoid altitude sickness on this itinerary?

The route climbs step by step: Arequipa (approx. 2,335 m) and the Colca Valley (approx. 3,600 m) come first, then Puno on Lake Titicaca (approx. 3,830 m) and finally Cusco (approx. 3,400 m). Take it easy on arrival at each new altitude, stay hydrated, try a cup of coca tea and keep the first evening light. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor before you travel.

How much does the 14-day Peru trip with friends cost?

Your price depends on two things: the hotel category (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and the number of travelers. The Rates tab shows the current price per person in a double or twin room, and you can request a personalized quote at no cost.
