Soar Over the Nazca Lines & Journey to the White City of Arequipa

Your light aircraft circles the hummingbird, the monkey and the other giant figures of the Nazca Lines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of archaeology’s greatest unsolved puzzles. Then relax on the scenic journey through desert valleys and along coastal cliffs to Arequipa, Peru’s elegant “White City”.

Overnight in Arequipa
Arequipa Plaza de Armas with El Misti volcano Day 5

Arequipa at Your Leisure: The White City Awaits

A well-earned pause between the desert and the Andes. Wander the colorful streets of the Santa Catalina Monastery, a city within the city, admire El Misti volcano from the Yanahuara viewpoint, visit the Museo Santuarios Andinos, home of the Inca ice maiden “Juanita”, or simply rest and acclimatize at approx. 2,335 m.

Agricultural terraces of the Colca Valley Day 6

Journey Through the Majestic Colca Valley

Cross the high plateau through the Salinas y Aguada Blanca reserve, where wild vicuñas graze, to the Patapampa viewpoint (approx. 4,900 m), surrounded by volcanoes. Witness the Flight of the Condor at Colca Canyon

Wake up early, because the condors don’t wait. On the way back, visit the colonial churches and villages of Maca and Yanque.

2-Week Peru Adventure: The Southern Loop: Your Questions Answered

What does this 2-week Peru adventure tour include?

It includes 13 nights in your chosen hotel category with breakfast, private transfers, guided tours of Lima and Cusco, the Ballestas Islands, a Nazca Lines overflight, the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, the Route of the Sun, the Sacred Valley, panoramic trains and a guided visit to Machu Picchu with entrance fees.

How active is this adventure tour?

Expect active days with early starts, boat trips, a scenic flight over Nazca and city walking tours and visits to archaeological sites, with no demanding hikes. Good general fitness is recommended, and the route climbs gradually so your body can adapt to the altitude.

What is the best 2-week itinerary for a first trip to Peru?

The southern loop is the classic choice: Lima, the Nazca Lines, Arequipa, the Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. It covers Peru’s most famous sights at a comfortable pace, with no demanding hikes.

When is the best time to take this 2-week tour?

The tour runs all year. April to November is the dry season in the Andes, with clear skies at Lake Titicaca and Machu Picchu; December to March brings green landscapes and afternoon showers.

How do I avoid altitude sickness on this itinerary?

The route climbs step by step: Arequipa (approx. 2,335 m) and the Colca Valley (approx. 3,600 m) come first, then Puno on Lake Titicaca (approx. 3,830 m) and finally Cusco (approx. 3,400 m). Take it easy on arrival at each new altitude, stay hydrated, try a cup of coca tea and keep the first evening light. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor before you travel.

How much does the 14-day Peru adventure tour cost?

Your price depends on two things: the hotel category (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and the number of travelers. The Rates tab shows the current price per person in a double or twin room, and you can request a personalized quote at no cost.
