12-Day Private Peru: Deserts & Canyons: Common Questions

What's included in the 12-day private Peru tour?

It includes 11 nights in your chosen hotel category with breakfast, private transfers, a guided Lima tour, the Ballestas Islands, a night in Huacachina, a Nazca Lines overflight, a 2-day Colca Canyon tour, a private Cusco tour, the Sacred Valley, panoramic trains and a guided visit to Machu Picchu.

Can this 12-day private tour be customized?

Absolutely. Start any day of the year, add nights, choose your hotel category, upgrade the train or include extra experiences. Share your ideas in the request form and we will adapt the itinerary.

When can I see the condors in the Colca Canyon?

Condors fly most actively in the early morning, from about 8 to 10 am, when the thermals rise from the canyon. That is why the visit to Cruz del Cóndor starts early. Sightings are frequent all year, though never guaranteed.

What is the best time of year for this 12-day trip?

The coast and Arequipa are sunny almost all year. April to November is the dry season in Colca, Cusco and Machu Picchu.

How can I prepare for the altitude on this route?

The route climbs step by step: Arequipa (approx. 2,335 m) first, then the Colca Valley (approx. 3,600 m, with a pass above 4,800 m) and finally Cusco (approx. 3,400 m). This gradual profile makes Cusco and Machu Picchu far easier on the body. Drink plenty of water, rest on arrival and ask your doctor before you travel if you have a medical condition.

How much is the 12-day private Peru tour?

The price depends on the hotel category you choose (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on the size of your party. See the Rates tab for the current price per person in a double or twin room.
