11-Day Peru Family Trip: Deserts & Kings: Questions & Answers

What is included in the 11-day Peru family vacation?

It includes 8 hotel nights in your chosen category and 2 nights at Eco Amazonia Lodge, private transfers, a guided Lima tour, the Ballestas Islands, a night in Huacachina, a Nazca Lines overflight, a Tambopata program with meals, a private Cusco tour, a Sacred Valley tour, panoramic trains and a guided visit to Machu Picchu.

Is this 11-day vacation suitable for children?

Yes. Sea lions, desert dunes, Monkey Island, night caiman spotting and the train to Machu Picchu make it a dream route for curious kids. Family and connecting rooms can be requested in most hotel categories.

Why visit Tambopata before Cusco?

Flying from Lima to the rainforest first and then on to Cusco avoids backtracking, and the lowland days give your body a gentle start before the Andes. Puerto Maldonado has direct flights to Cusco.

When is the best season for this 11-day itinerary?

April to November is the dry season in Tambopata, Cusco and Machu Picchu, with easier jungle trails; the coast is pleasant all year.

What do I need to know about altitude on this trip?

You visit Tambopata (approx. 200 m) first and then fly to Cusco (approx. 3,400 m), with a city tour the next day and the lower Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu after that. Rest on arrival in Cusco, drink plenty of water and check with your doctor if you have a medical condition.

What does the 11-day Peru family vacation cost?

The price per person depends on the hotel category (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and the number of travelers. Current rates per person in a double or twin room are listed in the Rates tab.
