10-Day Peru Adventure: Essential Inca Trail: FAQ

What does the 10-day Peru adventure tour include?

It includes 6 hotel nights in your chosen category, 3 nights of premium camping, private transfers, a guided Lima tour, Rainbow Mountain, a Sacred Valley tour, the classic 4-day Inca Trail with permit, guide, porters and meals, a guided tour of Machu Picchu and the panoramic train back to Cusco.

How active is this 10-day adventure?

It includes Rainbow Mountain and the classic 4-day Inca Trail over Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 m). Good general fitness is recommended, and our guides adapt the pace to you.

How many people can hike the Inca Trail each day?

Only 500 permits are issued per day, including guides and porters, so around 200 places are for trekkers. Permits are sold by the day and often sell out 4–6 months ahead for May to September.

What is the best time of year for this 10-day route?

May to September is the driest season for the Inca Trail. The trail closes every February, and permits sell out months in advance.

How should I prepare for the altitude?

This itinerary gives you three days to acclimatize before the trek: a free afternoon in Cusco (approx. 3,400 m), Rainbow Mountain and a night in the lower Sacred Valley. That is the minimum we recommend before crossing Dead Woman’s Pass (4,215 m). Drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol on the first days and consult your doctor before you travel.

What is the cost of the 10-day Peru adventure tour?

Prices depend on the hotel category (Essential 2★, Comfort 3★, Superior 4★ or Deluxe 5★) and on how many people travel together. You will find the current price per person in a double or twin room in the Rates tab.
